How Upstairs @ The Cafe
was born…
Terry has wanted to have this space for the past 7 years. When we purchased the café downstairs, we envisioned expanding to this area for catering events at breakfast, lunch and dinner and also to have an appetizer bar featuring our wonderful wine list, beer list, a selection of appetizers that would compliment the wine and desserts.
We wanted to...
- Create an environment where guests could come, relax, talk without having to shout over loud music, look at the incredible view of the
Carquinez Strait, sunset over the new bridge and the
goings-on on First Street, drink a nice glass of wine and have a light meal.
- Make the space as cozy, warm and comfortable as possible. We wanted to have the finest, most interesting list of wines & beers available in Benicia and surrounding area.
- Create some light foods that would help to expose the quality of the wines and provide a fantastic marriage of food & wine.
We have designed all the menus to work with one another. The food will constantly be changing according to the season,
availability and our own ingenuity. The wine list will evolve over time to include more and more high quality, value wines from all over the world, though we will continue to concentrate on California. We will also use the feedback from you, our Guests, on how we can do a better job and provide you
